GOP at 65 Percent Possibility of Winning House

(StraightNews.org) – Republicans have a 65% chance of controlling the House of Representatives after the upcoming election, according to a polling company. A Decision Desk HQ prediction also states that GOP candidates will likely win 11 out of 16 “toss-up races.” Scott Tranter, Director of Data Science at Decision Desk, said polling for Republicans is “unusually good” and has trickled down from Trump to GOP candidates across the board.

Mr. Tranter also concluded that Donald Trump has a 58% chance of re-entering the Oval Office next year and that President Biden’s poor performance against Mr. Trump at the first Presidential debate in Atlanta has significantly improved the electoral picture for Republicans.

The Decision Desk predictions come as polling shows a significant Trump lead against Biden but some mixed results when the former President competes against alternative Democrat candidates. For instance, surveys pitting Trump against Kamala Harris vary, with some showing Harris in front. Nevertheless, the broader picture shows Trump dominating all-comers, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, and his 2016 rival Hillary Clinton.

Meanwhile, growing numbers of Democrats are pleading with President Biden to stand down. Rep. Mike Levin of California said that “several hundred” of his constituents have contacted him expressing concerns about Biden’s capabilities. Rep. Brittany Pettersen of Colorado tweeted that her party must put forward an alternative and urged President Biden to “pass the torch.”

In a statement on July 11, Rep. Eric Sorensen of Illinois asked President Biden to put America first and withdraw from the race. Rep. Scott Peters of California, Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut, and Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington have all echoed similar sentiments.

Nevertheless, President Biden remains adamant and said he has no intention of withdrawing. During a post-debate interview, the President insisted he is most qualified to defeat Donald Trump, adding that “only the Lord almighty” could persuade him to step aside. “Failure at some point in your life is inevitable, but giving up is unforgivable,” he said.
