Harvard Researchers Unlock the Secrets of Age Reversal

(StraightNews.org) – Scientists at Harvard may have discovered the secret to age reversal and identified chemicals that can restore cells and reverse cellular aging. David Sinclair, one of the researchers involved, shared some of the findings on his Twitter account and said, “We’ve previously shown age reversal is possible using gene therapy to turn on embryonic genes. Now we show it’s possible with chemical cocktails, a step towards affordable whole-body rejuvenation.”

The “chemical cocktails” include several drugs routinely used to treat other conditions. These include Valproic acid, Tranylcypromine, and Pramipexole, usually prescribed to treat seizures, depression, and Parkinson’s disease.

Sinclair explained how it took three years of research to reach the current position and said the team is now confident it has found combinations that rejuvenate human cells. “When I started at Harvard Medical School, it was considered crazy to even think about slowing the aging process let alone reversing it,” he said.

The Harvard report comes only months after a team of scientists in Singapore said the age reversal is “biologically impossible.” The group of researchers used artificial intelligence to conduct their assessments. They assessed thermodynamic biological age (tBA) which tracks the extent of disorders produced in an organism as it gets older.

As tBA increases, resilience decreases, and chronic disease can result. The loss of resilience is a process that cannot be altered because it is “driven by an irreversible thermodynamic change,” the researchers said.

The Harvard group says it is optimistic because it has found positive results on monkeys and other animals, but Dr. Peter Fedichev, a co-author of the Singapore study, said this does not necessarily transfer to humans. He maintains, however, that it is possible to reduce the rate of aging by controlling molecular interactions in cells.

While awaiting a definitive cure for advancing years, humans are encouraged to eat well, socialize, avoid cigarettes and alcohol, get enough sleep, avoid stress, and get plenty of exercise if they want to stay younger for longer.
