Target Execs Hold Emergency Meeting As Criticism Escalates

(StraightNews.org) — Target, the retail store that has come under fire for selling clothing catering to transgender children, has arranged an emergency meeting to confront growing criticism. Some stores have also moved the controversial stock away from the front entrance of their outlets. The executive board is said to be concerned about causing a “Bud Light situation.”

One store manager said executives gave him 36 hours to move the merchandise and reduce the size of the department that has been labeled the “Pride Section.”

Target is facing censure for advertising and selling “LGBTQ+” products intended for children. T-shirts with the word “Queer” emblazoned on them are sold alongside swimming costumes promoted as “tuck friendly.” This means that the swim gear accommodates and hides male genitalia allowing the wearer to pass themselves off as female.

The criticism comes as other companies face a similar backlash. For example, Bud Light contracted with a transgender social media influencer, Dylan Mulvaney, and soon saw a drop in sales. Just over a year ago, Mulvaney began documenting his “journey to girlhood” on TikTok. Millions of people watch his clips. He was even invited to the White House to sit with President Joe Biden and tell him about his “journey.”

Bud Light executives decided to use Mulvaney in their latest ad campaign, but it appeared to backfire instantly. Drink sales dropped by around 25%, and millions of dollars were wiped off the company’s value. The executives who decided to sign Mulvaney have been placed “on leave.”

In the latest development, Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee wrote to Bud Light and accused them of marketing alcohol to minors. They asked Anheuser-Busch, the company that owns Bud Light, to provide details of the contract with Mulvaney and the scripts he used in his advertisements. The Senators say that Bud Light targeted children because Mulvaney often presents himself in a child-like manner – even creating a character called Eloise, who is six years old.
