Trump Says DeSantis Making Peace More Difficult

(StraightNews.org) — Presidential Republican front-runner Donald Trump has said that the comments on Russia by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would make peace impossible. He called DeSantis “ignorant and foolish” and said his approach was “exactly the kind of simple-minded thinking that has produced decades of failed diplomacy and ultimately war.” He added that DeSantis had shown disrespect to Russia and echoed neo-con rhetoric about Putin being a war criminal, which will only increase the chances of the war’s escalation.

The Florida Governor had been widely criticized for referring to the war in Eastern Europe as a “territorial dispute.” He later tried to clarify those words, and said he considers Putin a criminal who should be held to account. Trump argues that this will only make Putin fear imprisonment or execution and put him on the defense. The former President reiterated his stance that he is the only candidate for the White House in 2024 that will prevent World War 3. He has previously stated that he would end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office.

Preventing a third world war has taken center stage in the President’s re-election bid. He said the 2024 election is one of the most important in American history and the country will die under the wrong leadership. He added that America needs to be at the forefront of world leadership in order to prevent nuclear catastrophe. At a rally in Wyoming last year, he told his audience that a new world war would be “a war like no other” and that America would be partly responsible if such a tragedy were to unfold. “You may end up with a Third World War because of the stupidity of what we’re saying and what we’re doing,” he said.

The former President also lamented what he sees as the current weakness of the United States, which he claims began with the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan under President Biden’s leadership.
