$320 Million in US Precision Bombs Approved For Israel

(StraightNews.org) – The U.S. is sending precision weapons kits to Israel to help them battle Hamas. The two have been locked in heavy fighting after Hamas executed a surprise attack on southern Israel on October 7th. The Biden administration published notice of the sale on October 31st, informing Congress that a $320 million lot of Spice Family Gliding Bomb Assemblies will be sold to Israel.

The kits will allow the modification of basic ordinance into precision-guided weapons. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems is purchasing the equipment from Rafael USA, the prior an Israeli company while the latter is based in the U.S.

Israel has been engaged in heavy fighting, bombing, artillery strikes, and ground incursions in Gaza, the West Bank, and the northern parts of the country. They’re fighting Hamas in the occupied territories and Lebanese Hezbollah along the northern border since the October 7th attacks which killed 1,400 people and saw 240 taken hostage.

Israel has made wild claims about atrocities committed by Hamas fighters on the October 7th raid including mass murder of infants, children, and brutal rape of women. Those atrocities have been cited as evidence Hamas is a terrorist organization that must be eradicated by Israel and its supporters. Palestinian health authorities have claimed that 8,000 people are dead, including thousands of children in the resultant fighting.

Israel has been accused of engaging in friendly fire and destroying vehicles with hostages inside them.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz relayed statements from Tuval Escapa, a security guard for Kibbutz Be’eri, in which he indicated the Israeli military shelled houses and other buildings they suspected had terrorists inside, along with any residents or hostages that may have also been there. The willingness to target enemies in possession of hostages is known as the “Hannibal Directive” and it was a little-known Israeli military policy in the past. IDF representatives claim any dead hostages or noncombatants are unintentional collateral damage.

Additional reports accumulated by Max Blumenthal at the Grayzone appear to corroborate Escapa’s claims.
