Lawsuit Details Bizarre Targeting of Black Employees By Kanye West

(StraightNews.org) – A former employee of Kanye West has filed a lawsuit accusing him of racism, retaliation, and unlawful dismissal. Trevor Phillips, who is black, said West favorably treated white staff while “frenziedly” yelling at their black counterparts.

Mr. Phillips worked with West, who is also black, from November 2022 until August 2023 and described discriminatory behavior, including telling a black security guard to shave his dreadlocks or be fired. Phillips also alleges that West made it known that he prefers to date white women and noted several instances of bizarre behavior.

The rapper allegedly forced employees to watch movies with no sound, threatened to fire staff if they gained weight, and threatened to punch Phillips. The former staff member furthermore claims that West threatened to lock children in cages and shave their heads at the private school the Donda Academy, which Mr. West founded in 2022.

The lawsuit furthermore contained fresh allegations of antisemitism, and Phillips claimed West imparted anti-Jewish messages to Donda Academy students. The allegations include West’s alleged description of Jews as “miserly,” a claim that the Holocaust was “fake,” and praise of Adolf Hitler’s innovation.

Mr. West has a history of making antisemitic remarks, prompting several companies to end business deals with him. In 2022, for example, Adidas terminated a working relationship with the rapper, saying it would “not tolerate antisemitism.” At the same time, Gap announced it would remove products from West’s Yeezy clothing range from its stores. The announcements came after Kanye West, who legally changed his name to Ye, posted to Twitter that he intended to “go death con 3” on Jewish people.

Meanwhile, Trevor Phillips is seeking $35,000 for firing him by text message after he had viewed a possible property purchase on the rapper’s behalf. This allegedly followed an incident where Mr. West screamed at Phillips in front of dozens of people, telling him to “get the f**k out of here” and “you’re f**king fired.”
