Russia Claims US ‘Big Pharma’ Research Has Shifted To Africa

(StraightNews.org) – Russia says it has proof that the United States is conducting biowarfare experiments in Africa. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of Russia’s Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Protection Forces, said there are numerous Pentagon contractors in African countries and that the continent is a new focus for the US Department of Defense.

Kirillov claims he uncovered the information when his country halted its own biowarfare programs in Ukraine, where the ongoing war has forced the US to move its research to alternative locations. He stated that Washington has contracted private intermediary organizations to conduct research in order to “hide” its objectives.

Providing examples, Mr. Kirillov claimed that the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases undertook an extensive survey of hantavirus samples from bats in Kenya and studied the effects of anti-malarial drugs on African populations. The Russian furthermore claimed that Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) leaders met with officials from the Defense Department, State Department, and US Department of Health and Human Services in Africa to discuss further research and the development of “laboratory capabilities.”

It is not the first time Moscow has accused America of bioweapons advancement and experimentation. In 2022, Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, told the global agency that the United States planned to use birds and bats to spread disease. Council members, however, expressed concern that Russia made the allegation to cover up Moscow’s nefarious plots.

Last March, the US State Department stated that the Kremlin has “pushed false claims for decades,” intending to stir up distrust of the United States on the global stage. The State Department added that such claims date back to the Soviet Union and were deliberately disseminated during the Korean War, when China, the Soviet Union, and North Korea collectively accused America of sending infected animals into their countries. Documents later emerged proving that the allegations were false and fabricated by the Soviet Union as an attack on the US.
