Call for Accountability

Vivek Ramaswamy has called on Vice President Kamala Harris to publicly apologize to families affected by crimes committed by migrants. During a press conference, Ramaswamy emphasized that public officials must acknowledge the real-world impacts of their policies. He referenced the tragic death of Laken Riley, an American citizen murdered by an illegal alien, to underline the importance of empathic and accountable governance.

Ramaswamy’s remarks were clear: “Have a spine and to apologize to the family members of Laken Riley.” He also urged Harris to provide detailed policy plans aimed at preventing such crimes in the future. He stated, “Even more importantly, tell the rest of us what policies you’re actually going to adopt to make sure something like that never happens again in this country.”

Critique of Current Policies

Ramaswamy did not stop at calling for an apology. He criticized the Biden-Harris administration’s decision to end DNA testing at the southern border, arguing it was vital for preventing child trafficking. He further accused the administration of implementing policies that favor cartels and undermine American safety.

“If you actually cared about reuniting families you would at least genetically test, using the toolkit of modern science,” said Ramaswamy during the press conference.

Ramaswamy’s critique extended to Harris’ broader immigration policy stance. He mentioned her past comments, such as her 2017 assertion that “It is wrong to somehow suggest that an undocumented immigrant is a criminal,” as evidence of a dangerous leniency.

Call for Policy Reform

Ramaswamy also pressed for specific reforms, arguing for the necessity of documented proof in asylum claims and suggesting most asylum seekers do not meet the criteria. He highlighted his shared background with Harris as children of legal immigrants, questioning why she does not prioritize securing the border.

He believes stringent policies are essential to prevent the U.S. from facing issues similar to those in the countries asylum seekers are fleeing from. Ramaswamy stated, “From one kid of legal immigrant to this country to another, my message to her is shame on you.”

Ramaswamy’s name has even come up for a potential role in a Trump administration, where he could further advocate for stronger border policies. This suggestion aligns with his outspoken critique of current immigration reforms and his commitment to restoring what he calls a merit-based approach to immigration and national safety.
