Biden Resisted Choosing Harris as VP, According to New Book

(StraightNews.org) – President Biden was not keen on having Kamala Harris as his running mate, according to revelations in a new book. “Amateur Hour: Kamala Harris in the White House,” by Washington journalist Charlie Spiering, contains the explosive claim that Biden preferred Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer but bowed to public pressure to run with Harris. Former President Barack Obama also urged Biden to choose Harris over Whitmer, Spiering wrote.

The Washington veteran reporter also alleges that Biden is unhappy at the prospect of running with Harris again in 2024 due to “many struggles and mistakes during her first years in office.” The President’s decision to pick Kamala Harris was heavily influenced by the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020, and he felt it necessary to select a black woman, even while admitting that he was “having a little war between my head and my heart.”

Biden has a history of gaffes related to black Americans and felt Harris was his best shot at erasing some of these from the public memory. For example, Biden has asserted that “poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids” and caused a storm of protest when he told a black voter that he wasn’t really black if he chose to vote for Donald Trump.

According to the book, Biden’s concerns about Harris and her performance in government include alleged bullying of staff, “refusal to be a team player,” and her notorious reputation for “word salad.”

Fox News has collated some of Harris’s most infamous “word salad” examples, including a speech she delivered at the University of South Carolina when she said, “We invested an additional $12 billion into community banks because we know community banks are in the community.”
