GOP Rep Says She Isn’t Convinced Shooter Acted Alone

(StraightNews.org) Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna said she is unconvinced that Trump’s would-be assassin acted alone. The Floridian Rep. tweeted that she had attended an oversight briefing on Capitol Hill, which left her more convinced than ever that 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks had an accomplice when he attempted to assassinate Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally.

Much online speculation appears to agree with the lawmaker, with many suggesting that a second shooter was positioned nearby. Several social media users have suggested that the 20-year-old was a patsy and that a shady conspiracy was behind the assassination attempt.

Some theorists have suggested that Republicans set up the incident and that an expert shooter intentionally hit Trump in the ear so he could portray himself as a strongman and enjoy increased support. Others posit that Democrats organized the shooting to attempt to kill Mr. Trump, but it went wrong.

Rep. Luna is not the only lawmaker who questions the official narrative. The FBI has stated that Crooks acted alone and did not have strong political views, but Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin said he finds this explanation suspicious. The Senator asserted that the FBI cannot be trusted and he does not believe the Secret Service will conduct an honest and transparent investigation.

Senator Johnson has a long history of publicly questioning official statements on contentious issues, including coronavirus vaccines. The FBI responded to the theories and said that while initial inquiries strongly suggest a single shooter, investigations are still ongoing.

Additionally, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who resigned under pressure from lawmakers, testified to Congress that she did “not have any information related to a second shooter.” Floridian Rep. Mike Waltz asked Cheatle to address the online theories and the assertion that a second person was spotted near a water tower whose presence was not explained.

The rumors are based on apparent eyewitness testimony from a woman who claimed rally attendees were aware of “two shooters on both sides.”
