Iran’s Ayatollah Denies Backing Hamas in Israel Attack

Tehran, Iran 12 7 2020

(StraightNews.org) – Iran’s Islamic regime has denied involvement in the deadly attack on Israel. The country’s highest authority, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said the government in Tehran played no part in the atrocity, but he celebrated the apparent fatal blow that Hamas had landed on the Jewish state. Iran is a ferocious enemy of Israel, and its leaders have openly called for its destruction. “We kiss the hands of those who planned the attack on the Zionist regime,” said Khamenei.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is a long-time backer of both Hamas and Hezbollah; terrorist groups vehemently opposed to the existence of Israel. Campaigners say the Iranian regime donates $100 million annually to Hamas and a further $700 million to Lebanon-based Hezbollah.

Hamas launched a shocking, unexpected attack on the Jewish state by firing thousands of rockets at Israeli cities while simultaneously breaking down walls and barriers to mount a ground offensive. Over 1,000 Israeli civilians were declared dead within days as Hamas gunmen engaged in indiscriminate slaughter.

In the wake of the atrocity that started in the early morning of October 7, the United States said that while it could not produce evidence of a direct hand in the attack, Iran is indirectly culpable.

The Ayatollah of Iran is not alone in praising the massacre. A statement from the government of Qatar said, “Israel alone bears the responsibility for the current escalation due to its ongoing violations of the rights of the Palestinian people.” Syria issued a joint statement with Iran congratulating Hamas, while Hezbollah in Lebanon praised the “large-scale, heroic operation” in Israel. Egypt and Jordan, who share a land border with Israel, called for restraint from both sides.

Protestors in Europe have been heard shouting for Jews to be gassed, and thousands gathered in London to celebrate the terror attack. In Australia, demonstrators threw projectiles at the Sydney Opera House after it displayed the colors of the Israeli flag. Protesters shouted, “Death to Jews.”
