Trump Attacks Biden On Truth Social After Dropping Race

(Straightnews.org) Donald Trump lashed out at President Biden after he announced his departure from the Presidential race. In a written statement, the President stated that serving in the White House was the greatest honor of his life, but he believed it was in the country’s best interest for him to focus solely on the remainder of his Presidency. He thanked Kamala Harris for “being an extraordinary partner in all this work.” Donald Trump reacted with fury and said Biden’s doctors and the media knew he was not fit to serve as President but remained silent. “Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President and is certainly not fit to serve,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social media account.

House Speaker Mike Johnson was equally incensed and tweeted, “We must be clear about what happened.” He repeated Donald Trump’s argument that Biden was unfit and called on him to resign from the Oval Office. Other Republicans followed suit. Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri wrote, “If you can’t run a mere political campaign, you can’t be President.” House Majority Leader Steve Scalise accused Democrats of hypocrisy for warning that Republicans were a threat to democracy while they had simultaneously withdrawn a candidate and “trashed” the “primary choice of 14 million of their own voters.”

The President’s shock withdrawal came after weeks of pressure from Democrats and donors, who called on him to step aside. Biden did not immediately back Kamala Harris for President, but hours later, he gave his enthusiastic endorsement, prompting other senior party figures to follow suit.

By July 23, Harris had secured enough delegates for her nomination and won the backing of prominent party figures, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Bill and Hillary Clinton. Pelosi posted a video to social media saying everything had changed thanks to Biden’s “selflessness” and Kamala Harris’s “excellence.”

Barack Obama did not endorse Ms. Harris, but aides say the former President is not keen on backing candidates in the early stages of their campaigns.
