Trump Campaign Denies ‘Project 2025’ Connection

(StraightNews.org) – Donald Trump has denied any connection to the controversial Project 2025, a blueprint for a conservative Presidency created by the Heritage Foundation. The former President’s campaign team hit back at accusations that he endorses or supports the proposals in the document and said his only policy promises are those of Agenda 47 and the Republican Party. Trump campaign spokesperson Danielle Alvarez said President Biden and the DNC are lying and fear-mongering as a distraction from the President’s poor debate performance and because the Democrats have “nothing to offer the American people.”

The conservative Heritage Foundation document was partly compiled by individuals who worked in the previous Trump administration and proposes policy initiatives to transform the public sector, including firing vast numbers of civil servants and abolishing several departments, including the Departments of Homeland Security and Education.

Project 2025 furthermore proposes ending medical and surgical gender-altering interventions, ceasing all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs, and withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement while encouraging oil and gas energy sources. It also advocates blocking access to the abortion drug Mifepristone and reversing the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the drug.

The Department of Justice and the FBI will also be gutted under Heritage Foundation proposals, which advocate a “top-to-bottom overhaul.” Critics say it would also cut Medicaid, reduce taxes for the wealthiest, and pull the US out of international organizations.

On his Truth Social media account, Mr. Trump distanced himself from the document and the organization behind it, prompting criticism from some Republicans, who say he knows what is in the document but worries it will derail his campaign.

Potential VP pick Marco Rubio came to Trump’s defense and said the Heritage Foundation is a think tank merely putting forward ideas that Trump may or may not follow. He added that Heritage Foundation leader Kevin Roberts is not running for President and should not, therefore, be treated as policy lead for the next likely Trump administration.
