(StraightNews.org) – The CIA allegedly concealed a report showing that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted Hillary Clinton to win the US Presidential election in 2016. Journalists Michael Shellenberger and Matt Taibbi allege that Obama-era CIA chief John Brennan altered documents to appear as though Putin supported Trump when actually he hoped for a Clinton victory.
The “Intelligence Community Assessment,” produced in 2017, was manipulated before it was made public, according to an unnamed source who spoke to Mr. Shellenberger. It is furthermore alleged that the document entitled “Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent US Elections” purports that Putin created a propaganda campaign to undermine American democracy and harm Clinton’s candidacy. This was allegedly doctored in the closing days of the Obama administration, and the actual report is hidden away because it vindicates Trump of colluding with Russia to influence the election, it is alleged.
Michael Shellenberger and Matt Taibbi testified on the weaponization of the federal government last March. Mr. Shellenberger also appeared at a House Judiciary subcommittee in December, saying censorship and lying in US politics had gotten steadily worse. He said the US and UK governments had deployed “sophisticated psychological operations and disinformation tactics” against the American public, and he implicated the Department of Homeland Security in silencing Americans with certain viewpoints.
Shellenberger, in a similar sensational claim, said government agencies, including the FBI, deliberately framed people and portrayed them as domestic terrorists to demonize their political beliefs.
In Congressional testimony in March 2023, Matt Taibbi said the FBI frequently asked Twitter to remove or censor posts and accounts, which is illegal under the First Amendment. Mr. Taibbi, who helped compile the “Twitter files” after Elon Musk bought the platform, said the government analyses, flags, and collects Americans’ social media content and that the FBI’s contact with Twitter was “constant and pervasive, as if it were a subsidiary.”
The two journalists became famous when they said Twitter suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop scandal to help Biden win the White House.
