Ex-US Marine Charged with Race-Based Mass Shooting Plot

(StraightNews.org) – A former US Marine is facing federal charges for plotting to kill white people. The US Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey confirmed that authorities had arrested and charged 23-year-old Joshua Cobb with transmitting a threat in interstate and foreign commerce. Prosecutors state that Cobb had posted about his wish to kill white people on social media since 2022 and had begun planning a mass shooting.

Court documents indicate that the defendant had researched locations for the killings, including an Aldi store in Robbinsville, New Jersey, and a local gym. He also allegedly compiled notes on how to smuggle weapons into the Garden State illegally.

US Attorney Philip R. Sellinger explained that Joshua Cobb enlisted in the US Marines in 2023 but was discharged after a brief service period in California. On social media, Cobb declared that as a black man, white people would never understand his struggles, and he would never understand theirs. “I want to erase them,” he wrote.

The evidence further indicates that the suspect carefully contemplated the date for his mass killing and planned to carry it out on a day that he considered important to white Americans. Cobb wrote that it would take place in New Jersey at a location where few people would be armed. He claimed to have acquired two of the four firearms he would use, and all that remained was to choose a venue and note the exit and entry locations. This was due to take place last June, but the former Marine decided to postpone so he could obtain more weapons and ammunition.

A press release from the US Attorney’s Office describes additional social media posts from Cobb in which he describes the “rush” of murdering people and his desire to become a serial killer.

During law enforcement interviews, Cobb confessed he had written the posts and provided information on what he planned to do. He faces a five-year jail term and a fine of $250,000.
